WOW! What a process editing is! It was so incredibly helpful to have a developmental editor take a look at the manuscript.
My editor, Leah Campbell helped me find timeline issues, character and plot development holes and obviously a handful of misspellings and grammar issues. I have to say, proudly, that what she helped me with was so small in comparison to the whole of the project. The manuscript was in seriously solid shape when she got it and I'm proud of that. But what she noticed and what we fixed were so important to the story as a whole and I have been so thrilled with my first proper editing experience. I hope she and I will work on my next book together as well!
The highlights of her editors letter to me were:
"I really and truly loved the book. I average 4 to 6 developmental edits a month, and I can honestly tell you – yours is one of the more put together and traditionally marketable pieces I have dealt with. It has that Sex in the City vibe, which is so appealing to readers, and the perfect romantic comedy pacing. Plus, Audrey is incredibly relatable and easy to fall in love with. She's fun and witty and so devastatingly naive, but in the way most of us are at that age. I was actually up working on it late last night, not wanting to put it down because I wanted to know what was going to happen. Which is great! This is the perfect rom-com in a book. And Logan absolutely cracks me up! There is room for improvement, but there is also huge potential here. I am very glad to be a part of this project! You have a stellar book here."

"Party Girl" heads to our line editor, Laura Silverman on Friday and then we will go to print in a couple weeks!
